Ms. Nichols began her dance training at the age of five at Michele’s Dance Academy in Las Cruces, NM, where she later became a principal and founding member of the Las Cruces Chamber Ballet. There, she danced solo and principal roles in The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, Coppelia and several additional original works. She also trained on scholarship with Pennsylvania Ballet and Milwaukee Ballet and received scholarships from the Cecchetti Council of America.
Ms. Nichols attended Brigham Young University, where she danced with the BYU Theatre Ballet for two years. Also at university, Julie found a love for choreography and costuming, and graduated from BYU with a BA in Theatrical Costume Design. Intertwining these passions throughout her career, she has staged numerous original pieces and designed an extensive costume portfolio.
For eight years, Ms. Nichols directed Ballet Belles, a small, child-centered dance academy and performing group. A wife and mother of four children, Julie is grateful to share her love of dance with others and is honored to continue to do this as an instructor and costume designer with Ballet Rincon.
